Installation

The board does not change: 21 carries +24 V while K5 is off, 23 while K5 is on. This choice says where the lock is wired. Fail-safe is locked with power, fail-secure is locked without power. The difference shows on fire and KAC.

Scenarios

What the box does in each scenario, calculated by the same relay logic as the model above. A relay is energised when its coil is powered.

Relays K1–K5

  • K1 Fire (V23079). Coil: terminal 8 → board 0 V. Contacts 4·9 → 5·8 give +24 V to the lock (via K5) and hold magnet 40.
  • K2 Fire/AGA. Coil is fed from the fire line through K5 contact 21→22. Set 1 drives night lock 38–39, set 2 gates the outdoor elbow switch (32 → 35).
  • K3 Night lock. Coil straight from terminal 10. Parallel with K2 in loop 38–39: both must be energised to lock the night lock.
  • K4 REX. Coil sits on +24 V via F2 and pulls in when elbow switch 19–20 connects its minus to −24 V via F1. Set 1: REX to ACS (6 → 5). Set 2: door operator (35 → 34).
  • K5 Lock (Schrack RT42). Coil: terminal 9. Set 11/12/14 moves +24 V between 21 (NC) and 23 (NO). Set 21/22 cuts the coil of K2.

Modes

NORMAL

Door is locked. K1 and K2 are energised. The outdoor elbow switch is blocked by K2. A card or REX opens the door.

ACCESS GRANTED

Lock signal on terminal 9: K5 energised and moved +24 V from 21 to 23. K5 also cut the coil supply of K2, so K2 dropped — the outdoor elbow switch works and the night lock is released.

REX does not touch K2 — the button only reaches the ACS on 5–6. The ACS answered with the Lock signal on terminal 9, the same output as for a card. So K5 pulled in, K2 dropped, and the outdoor elbow switch is enabled while the signal lasts.

NIGHT LOCK

Night lock: K3 and K2 are both energised, so loop 38–39 is open and the night lock is locked. A card drops K2 and so releases the night lock.

FIRE

Fire: terminal 8 is dead. K1 dropped and removed +24 V from the lock and the hold magnet. K2 dropped too, so both elbow switches open the door and the night lock is released. K3 stays energised — that is correct, K2 alone releases the night lock.

The model shows a night lock on constant 24 V (terminal 37). On exterior doors that must stay locked during fire, the night lock is fed from fire-controlled 24 V (terminal 40): it then stays locked, and the door is opened mechanically.

KAC RELEASE

KAC emergency release: loop 30–31 is open and the board's 0 V is gone. K1, K2, K3 and K5 drop together and the lock loses its return on 22. The indoor elbow switch still works, because K4 returns through 19–20.

The model shows a night lock on constant 24 V (terminal 37). If the night lock is fed from fire-controlled 24 V (terminal 40), it also stays locked on KAC.

NO POWER

No power on terminals 1–4. All relays dropped.

A fail-secure lock on 23 gets no power on fire or KAC and stays locked. Use 21 for escape doors.
